H.P. lands another furniture manufacturer

Wentworth Furniture, a high-end cabinetry maker, will relocate from Florida to High Point.
Loren Hill, president of the High Point Economic Development Corp., said the Pompano Beach, Fla., company would begin production in High Point in either May or June of 2008. It will transfer 10 employees here and hire an additional 30 workers during the next six months.
It will locate its operations in an 18,400-square-foot building at 501 Ennis St. in the southern part of the city.
"Wentworth is just what we in High Point seek to continue to attract -- quality furniture/home furnishings companies that can take advantage of our skilled work force and the furniture-related synergies we offer by being the Home Furnishings Capital of the World," Hill said.
